How to turn the Closed Captioning or Subtitles on or off when viewing Internet videos from Netflix?

    IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

    Availability of subtitles when watching Netflix Internet videos depends on the version of the Netflix app ported to your device. In order to better understand the information in this article, determine the version of the Netflix app on your device .

    If using the latest Netflix version 6 (as of Aug 2019)

    1. Launch the Netflix app.
    2. Select a TV show or movie.
    3. Select Audio & Subtitles from the options panel.
    4. Select your preferred audio or subtitle options.
    5. Press Back to return to the options panel.
    6. Select Play.

    On some products, audio and subtitle options can be accessed while a TV show or movie is playing:

    1. Launch the Netflix app.
    2. Select a TV show or movie.
    3. While your TV show or movie is playing, press the Up arrow.
    4. Select the  Dialog icon.
      NOTE: If the Dialog icon does not appear, press the Down arrow while your TV show or movie is playing to open the audio and subtitle menu.

       
    5. Select your preferred audio or subtitle options.

     


    If using Netflix version 3

    NOTES:

    • All Netflix movies come with Closed Captioning or Subtitles.
    • Subtitle appearance is customizable (including font type, font size, font color, etc.) by accessing your account on the Netflix web site. On your computer, log in into your Netflix account and access Your Account -> Subtitle appearance.

    1. Open the Netflix app.
    2. Select and begin playing a movie.
    3. Turn the closed caption (CC) or subtitle on or off by pressing the Subtitle or CC button on the remote or by pressing down arrow button twice on the remote.
    4. Select Audio & Subtitles.

    5. Select Subtitles.

    If using Netflix version 2

    NOTES:

    • Not all Netflix movies come with Closed Captioning or Subtitles.
    • Subtitle appearance is not customizable and comes in one font type, font size, font color, etc.

    During movie playback, subtitles or CC can be turned on or off by pressing the Subtitle or CC button on the remote. You can also change subtitles language, turn them on or off or adjust audio format prior movie playback on the movie page.

    Subtitles and Closed Captioning are not supported.
