How to open the back cover of the remote

When your remote is not performing as expected, the most common solution is to replace the batteries. However, TV remotes come in many shapes and sizes, and depending on the remote you're using, the mechanism to open the back cover is different. Let's have a look at some common mechanisms.

Note: If the cover is a bit stuck and difficult to open, rubber gloves or gloves with anti-slip will make it easier to open.

    The slide and peel

    1. Turn the remote control over, point the triangle symbol on the top of the cover (marked with the red circle in the picture) upward, and place your thumbs at the underside of the cover.
Picture of holding the remote with both thumbs underneath. The tip of the remote has a triangle mark with a red circle indicating its position.
    2. Slide the back cover towards the direction of the  triangle point until it loosens.
Note: When opening the cover for the first time, it may not slide easily.
    3. Lift the back cover to open it.

The slider (a part of the cover)

Slider remotes require you to slide either a part of the back cover or the entire back cover in one direction, possibly marked by a triangle.

    The clip and tilt

Very common and easily identifiable: you recognize the battery compartment on the back of the remote by the clearly defined lid. Usually, there is a little clip you can hold to remove the cover.

    The arrow

Arrow remotes have a button at the underside of the remote. If you press the arrow, the entire back cover will come loose, revealing the battery compartment.

    How to replace the batteries

Insert the battery according to the indicated polarity, starting with the negative (-) pole. Follow the markings in the battery compartment.

    Battery tips

    • The battery of rechargeable remote controls cannot be replaced.
    • Do not mix new and used batteries or different types of batteries.
    • While alkaline batteries are acceptable, we recommend manganese batteries.
    • For remotes with a mic button or touchpad, we recommend using alkaline batteries with long battery life for reliable Bluetooth communication.
    • Remove the battery if it is depleted or if the remote hasn't been used for a long time. Leaving the batteries in can cause the battery to leak.
    • If battery fluid leaks, clean the battery compartment thoroughly before inserting new batteries. If the fluid contacts your skin, rinse thoroughly with water.
