Sound Bar - Bluetooth connection to the Google TV™ or Android TV™ models

    To connect soundbar to the TV via Bluetooth, you need to pair the soundbar with the TV.
    Here, we will pair the TV and soundbar.

    Applicable products

    TVs that can connect to Bluetooth audio devices are limited to Google TV and Android TV models that support the A2DP profile.
    For Google TV and Android TV models that support the A2DP profile and supported soundbar, refer to the What Bluetooth headphones, speakers, and sound bars can I use with a Google TV or Android TV? article.

    Step 1: Set the soundbar to pairing mode

    The procedure to set to pairing mode varies depending on your soundbar. Here, we describe how to set soundbar made by Sony to pairing mode.
    For details, refer to the manual of the product.

    E.g. If the soundbar is HT-Z9F

    1. Turn on the TV.
    2. Prepare the remote control for the soundbar, and turn on the soundbar.
    3. Point the remote control at the receiver in the soundbar's front panel display. Press and hold the (BLUETOOTH) button on the top of soundbar’s bar speaker and the (TV) button on the soundbar’s remote control at the same time for five seconds.
    4. When the front panel display in the bar speaker displays BT and the Bluetooth indicator in the front panel display flashes quickly, the soundbar is in pairing mode.

    E.g. If the soundbar is HT-X9000F/X8500

    1. Turn on the TV.
    2. Prepare the remote control for the soundbar, and turn on the soundbar.
    3. Point the remote control at the receiver in the soundbar's front panel display. Press and hold the (BLUETOOTH) button on the top of soundbar’s bar speaker and the (TV) button or (INPUT) button (*) on the soundbar’s remote control at the same time for five seconds.
      * TV button for HT-X9000F, INPUT button for HT-X8500. For other models, refer to their manuals, as the button names and locations on the remote control vary depending on the model.
    4. When the Bluetooth indicator on the bar speaker flashes quickly, the soundbar is in pairing mode.

    Step 2: Pair the soundbar with the TV

    Note: The procedure below describes an example using screens from Android™ 10. The screen menus vary depending on the Android OS. For details, refer to the Help Guide (Web manual).

    1. Set the TV to pairing mode.
      1. Open the Settings screen.
      2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Remotes and accessoriesPair accessory, and press the Enter button.
        • Select Remotes & AccessoriesBluetooth settingsAdd device, and press the Enter button.
        • Select Bluetooth setting → Add device, and press the Enter button.    

        This will set the TV to pairing mode.

    2. Pair the soundbar with the TV.
      Set the soundbar in pairing mode and the TV within 1 m of each other.

      When the TV detects the soundbar, the device name and status of the soundbar will be displayed at the upper right of the screen. Select it and press the Enter button.

      If the text under the device name changes to Paired and a message indicating that the Bluetooth connection is complete is displayed, pairing is complete.

      Check the connection status on the soundbar.
      E.g. If the soundbar is HT-Z9F
      If the front panel display in the bar speaker changes to TV (BT) and the Bluetooth indicator lights up in blue, pairing with the TV is complete.

      E.g. If the soundbar is HT-X9000F/X8500
      If the Bluetooth indicator and TV indicator on the top of the bar speaker light up, pairing with the TV is complete.

      Use the TV remote control to select the desired program or connected device input, and check if audio is output from the soundbar.

    If you pair the soundbar once, you do not need to pair them again. For information about reconnecting or disconnecting after pairing, refer to the How can I reconnect my Bluetooth device? article.

    Note:
    • You can adjust the volume with the TV remote control (*), but the actual volume is different from the volume indicator displayed on the TV screen.
      * Depending on the soundbar, there are some models whose volume cannot be adjusted with the TV remote control. In such cases, change the volume with the soundbar's remote control or the buttons on the soundbar itself.
    • Only one Bluetooth device (such as headphones or soundbar) can be connected to the TV at a time.
    • If the TV and soundbar are connected via Bluetooth and the audio cuts out or does not match the screen, connect the TV and soundbar with the HDMI cable (supplied with the soundbar).
