Accessibility for Xperia Smartphone

    Xperia smartphones support the following accessibility features. 

    You can access them from [Settings]-[Accessibility]  (exclude some features)

    • These features are available on Xperia smartphones with Android 11 or later installed. In addition, some features will be available from Android 12 or later (*1) or Android 13 or later (*2).
    • Available features might be different depending on the product and/or Android OS version.
    • Some features might require app installation from Google Play depending on the product and/or Android OS version. 

    Vision  

    TalkBack

    You can use your device without looking at the screen by spoken feedback.

    Select to Speak

    You can tap specific items on your screen to hear them read aloud.

    Font size

    You can make the text on the screen smaller or larger.

    Display size

    You can make the items on your screen smaller or larger.

    Bold text

    You can use bold font to improve visibility. (*1)

    Color correction

    You can adjust how colors are displayed on your device.

    Color inversion

    You can change your display to a dark background.

    Remove animations

    You can remove animation partly during operating your device.

    Large mouse cursor

    You can make the mouse pointer larger.

    High-contrast text

    You can make the text easier to read on your device.

    Extra dim

    You can dim your screen beyond your phone's minimum brightness so it's more comfortable to read. (*1)

    Dark theme

    You can change your display to a dark background.

    Magnification

    You can zoom or magnify to see your device's screen better.

    Audio Description

    Hear a description of what's happening on screen in supported movies and shows. (*2)

    You can participate in conversations around you by showing speech as text on your screen.

    Sound Notifications

    Your phone will always be checking for sounds you want to be notified about.

    Mono audio

    You can integrate audio channel during playback.

    Audio balance

    You can adjust the left and right audio balance.

    You can choose caption preferences for your device.

     

    Action

    Accessibility Menu

    You can control your device from a large on-screen menu.

    Volume key shortcut

    You can press and hold both volume keys to start an accessibility feature.

    Accessibility Button

    You can start your accessibility apps or switch between accessibility apps. (*1)

    Switch Access

    You can interact with your device using one or more switches.

    Touch & hold delay

    You can adjust the amount of time before your tap on the screen becomes a touch & hold.

    Time to take action (Accessibility timeout)

    You can choose how long to show messages that ask you to take action but are visible only temporarily.

    Click after mouse pointer stops moving

    You can set the mouse cursor to take action automatically when the cursor stops moving for a certain amount of time.

    System navigation

    You can choose between 3-button navigation and Gesture navigation.

    One-hand mode

    One-handed mode makes it easier to reach distant parts of the screen with your finger. (*1)

    Power button ends call

    You can press your device's power button to end a call.

    Auto-rotate screen

    You can rotate the screen automatically when you move your device between portrait and landscape.

    Vibration & haptic strength

    You can turn on vibration for ringing, notifications, and touch.

    Google Assistant

    Keep in touch, manage tasks and to-dos, get answers, control your phone and more. Just say “Hey Google” to get started.

    Smart call handling

    You can handle incoming calls without having to touch the screen.
