Sony has recently become aware that some units of the E-mount lens FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM “SEL1635GM” for Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera αTM (Sales start: July 28, 2017) may cause the camera to be inoperable or the function of the rear monitor of the camera may be affected, when the lens is attached.

Sony will offer free inspection and free of charge repairs for the affected lenses.

Until March 31, 2023
*The symptom eligible for free repair is caused by a failure of specific electrical printed circuit board. If the lens failure is caused by any other components, these would need to be repaired first. In such cases there may be a cost associated with the repairs. (added on December 13, 2019)
